Rocket Reducers! The band started in 2005 or 2006. We were Teenagers hopped up on.. Well, Teengenerate, New Bomb Turks and The Candy Snatchers. We were all in love with Punk and garage music and had that youthful excitement that we were going to take over the world or at least the underground. We tried our hardest to have people hate us. A feat only enjoyed by the most immature of attention hungry idiots!
We lit drums on fire, we smashed bottles on the stage and cut ourselves, we threatened people (lucky they never called our bluff when I pointed a broken bottle at some bully / creep in London. Im sure we would've gotten beat up!) we got banned from punk houses and bars, people refused to pay us, we were chased out of karaoke bars and hunted by pickup trucks filled with rednecks with bats, we drank, sniffed and smoked ourselves into oblivion and we relished in our youthful acts of self destruction, and we even got people evicted! (It's true, ask the JOLTS they were there!)
Our bass player and behind the scenes wizard and creative director TJ eventually decided to self release a 12" EP for the band. We had become friends with Jimmy Vapid and he recored us for basically free. We had a lot of fun in his basement studio and he let us come over a dozen times to do overdubs and redo vocals and remix as had no idea what we were doing and were still learning. Something we are all grateful for.
We did a month long Canadian Tour in support of that 12" EP.
(TJ, again thank you for pulling that off somehow.) We went to Vancouver and back, with van problems, food from a food bank, greasy van porno mags, constant band blowouts, cancelled dates in the USA and all that cliche shit. Long D.I.Y tours can turn 20 year old young men into brainless, shameless party animals with unquenchable thirst for Beer.
This demo tape came out after the first 12"EP and came out before the bands full length that was released on Dead Beat Records not long after. One song appeared on the LP and the other two were only on this tape. No idea on how many tapes we made But I would guess only around 30 as Burger and TJ did all the work on these. To bad it never made it onto a 7" like we wanted at the time.
This tape was recorded in the bands rehearsal space by Stack. We were such terrible little creeps I remember the band yelling at Burger and berating him when he was doing his guitar solos. We were telling him they were shit and made him do take after take because we wanted him to be mad and angry. We figured that would make him play better. It seemed normal to us at the time but looking back thats pretty fucked up. Other than being shitheads to Burger we loved how it turned out.
Right after the Dead Beat LP came we broke up at the end of a USA midwest tour. Broke, burnout, and miserable. A boring Rock n Roll story you've heard before. Mainly we called it quits because we were a bunch drunk moronic kids and punk rock isn't supposed to last that long when you are that young and dumb. Still, it was a fucking great time and I'm glad it all happened the way it did.

I second the statement of this being one of my favourite EPs ever. Kel is unbelievable and I can safely say they kick ass live too, with Kel and some super talented friends in tow. joyisresistance
